Macedonia hosts the biggest world sustainable energy summit – 14th Global Forum on Sustainable Energy (IFESD-14) begins

Skopje and Macedonia, from Tuesday, October 28, will be the center of the world energy scene.

The 14th International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development (IFESD-14) will be held in Skopje in the period from 28th to 30th October, 2025 under the title “From Goals to Action: Powering the Future with Sustainable Energy”.

Huge interest - Over 1000 registered participants from more than 70 countries – including high-ranking representatives from international institutions, economic leaders, academics and experts – will gather in the capital of the Republic of North Macedonia to shape the future of energy and sustainable development.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources of the Republic of North Macedonia, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the five regional commissions of the United Nations (UNECE, UNESCAP, UNECLAC, UNECA and UNESCWA).

The Forum will begin with official opening on 28th (Tuesday) at the Macedonian Philharmonic, which will be broadcasted live on Macedonian Radio Television (MRTV).

The opening remarks will be given by:

·         The Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski

·         Sanja Bozinovska, Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources

·         Armen Grigoryan, UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of North Macedonia

·         Tatiana Molcean, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), as well as high government representatives, international organizations and the energy business sector.

During the three-day forum, a series of panel discussions, technical sessions and thematic discussions will be held to address the most current issues related to energy security and resilience, clean energy financing, system digitalization, critical raw materials management, just transition as well as the role of young people and women in energy transformation.

The aim of the Forum is to move from global goals to concrete actions – with clear steps to diversify sources, accelerate new investments and develop regional cooperation for energy stability.

Within the framework of the forum, the “Skopje Declaration” will be signed – a document that will remain as a significant permanent record of the commitments of the participating countries towards a sustainable, secure and inclusive energy future. With this, Macedonia strengthens its position on the energy world map as an equal and credible partner in the global transition.
