Bozhinovska at the Berlin Global Dialogue: Dependance from one source is a risk of the past

The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska participates at the Berlin Global Dialogue 2025, one of the most influential forums that unites statesmen, visioners and economic leaders that shape the future.

This year is being held under the motto „Shifting Power, Shaping Prosperity“, with a focus on how the new multipolar reality can create stable and sustainable global development.

Minister Bozhinovska was a speaker at the panel „Shifts of Power: Strengthening Energy Resilience“, at which she stressed that the concept of energy security in the new geopolitical context is changing essentiallyfrom a classical approach towards energy resources and resilient and green systems with long-term stability.

Energy security no longer means just quantity and source of energy. Today it is a question of resilience, diversification and transition to cleaner, more sustainable sources, Bozhinovska said.
Geopolitical changes have taught us that dependance from one supplier is a serious risk. Therefore, our strategy is clear-connecting with more markets, construction of interconnectors and strengthening the stability, even in conditions of global insecurity.

In her speech, the minister emphasized the concrete steps that North Macedonia undertakes for energy independence and sustainability:

We have diversified the gas supply through interconnector with Greece and we are preparing the infrastructure for the future transport of hydrogen. At the same time, we are increasing domestic generation of sun and wind, modernizing the grid and investing in storage and digitalization. Our vision is simple, but ambitious-energy system which is flexible enough to absorb global shocks, green enough to secure sustainability and stable enough to guarantee available energy for all.

Referring to the question for balance between security, accessibility and sustainability, Божиновска emphasized that the three goals cannot exclude themselves mutually, but are interdependent.

It is not about a choice between security, availability or sustainability-but for how we connect these goals. It needs strategy, long-term investments and above all-cooperation. Not one country can solve the global energy challenges by its own, but together we can build stronger and more resilient systems.

The minister pointed out the significance of the new technologies and the artificial intelligence in energy, that, according to her, are potential for better efficiency and not a threat:

Artificial intelligence can strengthen the resilience of the systemthrough more precise prediction of demand, optimization of the production and improved integration of renewable sources. If used wisely, she can enable us to be more efficient and to be more prepared for the future.

Berlin Global Dialogue is a global platform based with the aim to initiate a dialogue among the economic and political decision-makers, academic community and the business sector. The Forum is recognized by its participants from the highest levelamong which, the French president Emmanuel Macron, German chancellor Olaf Scholz and the executive director of BlackRock, Larry Fink.

To represent North Macedonia whereas it is spoken of the future of the energy and the global development is an honor and responsibility. These discussions are not only for the future of the energythese are for the future of economy, stability and the world we leave to the next generations, minister Bozhinovska added.
