The fourth coordinative meeting of the Just Energy Transition Investment platform (JETIP), was held today, whereas the key stakeholders discussed the progress in policies, planning and regulatory reforms that support the just energy transition of North Macedonia.
The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska emphasized that in the past period the Ministry has been focused on strengthening the political and planning foundations necessary for the effective implementation of the Investment platform.
In this direction, two Annual Development Plans for the energy sector for 2025 and 2026 have been prepared, aligned with the priorities of the just transition, providing a clear short-term framework for project implementation and investment readiness.
In parallel, the National Energy and Climate plan (NECP) has completed the phase of public consultations and entered the final stage of completion. The NECP integrates decarbonization goals, the development of renewable energy sources and the needs for flexibility of the energy system, with a particular focus on regions affected by the coal transition. Once adopted, the Plan will represent a stable foundation for public and private investment decisions.
On a regulatory level, the preparation of the Law on renewables is at the final stage, whose adoption will create conditions for significantly accelerating investments and achieving decarbonization goals.
These activities do not represent isolated reforms, but enabling steps for the realization of the project framework of the Investment platform.
The Government once again confirmed its strong commitment to the just energy transition, supporting the Investment platform as a key mechanism for coordination, investments and accelerated implementation of reforms.
With regards,
Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources
