At today's meeting of the energy sector working group, held at the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, the current status of electricity supply and ongoing activities of the key actors in the system were discussed. The group, composed of all relevant institutions and companies – AD ESM, MEMO, MEPSO, the Regulatory Commission, and other sector partners, was formed at the initiative of Minister Saња Bozhinovska and is tasked with ensuring continuous coordination and rapid response to any risks in supply.
The main topic of the meeting was the analysis of electricity consumption during the previous holidays and the system's readiness for the upcoming weekend during the May Day holidays. It was concluded that the grid successfully absorbed the increased pressure without major disruptions, and all capacities remain mobilized for the upcoming period.
AD ESM pointed out that the water level, which at the end of last year was at a critical 11%, is now stabilized above 30%, thanks to careful and efficient resource management. The company emphasized that it is operating with a "responsible and careful approach," which is already yielding results.
Progress in ongoing energy projects, the phases they are in, and the challenges they face were also discussed. Some projects are proceeding according to schedule, while for others, internal procedures have been initiated to address delays. Future investment plans aimed at increasing the security and resilience of the electricity network were also in focus.
According to Minister Bozhinovska, this regular coordination is essential:
"Every assessment, every analysis, and every step we take has one goal – stable and secure supply for citizens and the economy. Continuous dialogue between institutions is a guarantee that we will address any potential risks in time."
The working group will continue with regular meetings and public reporting, with an emphasis on transparency and a professional approach in managing the national energy system.
Respectfully,
Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources
