The Just Energy Transition Platform is Strengthening – JETIP: Macedonia Calls on the International Community for Partnership

The Minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozinovska, opened the coordination meeting of the Just Energy Transition Platform – JETIP, highlighting the Government’s strong commitment for implementing a fair and inclusive energy transition in the country.

“This platform is not just a tool for coordinating investments – it is a key pillar of our national vision to phase out coal by 2030, intensify renewable energy sources and ensure that no one is left behind in the transition”, minister Bozinovska said at the opening.

At the event, which brought together representatives from international financial institutions, donors and technical agencies, the progress within the framework of JETIP has been presented, as well as future steps in the creation and implementation of measures for energy and climate transformation.

Minister Bozinovska pointed out that with the adoption of the new Energy Law and the intensive work on the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), the country is establishing a clear and integrated framework for the realization of the goals in five key areas: decarbonization, energy efficiency, security of supply, internal energy market and innovations. The second draft of the NECP is expected by mid-June.

“JETIP is a promise – to workers, to our communities and to future generations. It is a model of what true international cooperation should look like, when local priorities are aligned with global ambitions” Bozinovska emphasized, expressing special gratitude to all partners who have been part of the process from the beginning.

Special emphasis was placed on the joining of the French Development Agency (AFD) as a new partner within the platform, which confirms the growing trust of international actors in the process led by Macedonia.

At the meeting, minister Bozinovska made a clear call to the international community:

“The time for support and investment is now. I invite all partners to join us – to invest, to innovate and to stand with us as we build a sustainable, secure and just energy future for all.”

On the sidelines of the meeting, it was also announced that the bylaws that will result from the new Energy Law will be adopted, which will enable the full implementation of the new regulatory framework.
