Bozhinovska: The ruby as an inspiration for the future–art and geology merged to transform resources into knowledge, value and future

The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska together with the ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Gregor Presker, visited the mosaic and ruby workshop being held at DSULD „Lazar Lichenoski“.

The workshop is an innovative approach connecting geology, art and education through practical work with minerals, with a special focus on the ruby as a symbol and a material. The workshop is already underway and represents a rare example of how natural resources can be transformed into a creative and educational process with broader social significance.

The visit is part of the Ministry’s wider activities aimed at linking energy and mining sectors with education, innovations and creative industries–as a key element of modern sustainable development policies.

„Such projects are a concrete example of how a new narrative for energy and mining is being built- not just as a sector, but as a space for knowledge, innovation and connecting with culture. Our goal is for the natural resources to become part of education, creativity and the economy. That is where real added value for the country is created. These initiatives are an important step toward building a new approach in the sector–whereas young people are directly involved, and the resources are being used as a tool for learning, innovations and development of new skills“, minister Bozhinovska emphasized.

Ambassador Presker greeted the cooperation and the support of such projects, highlighting that they generate tangible results and long-term partnerships among institutions, education and the civil society.

During the visit, Minister Bozhinovska and ambassador Presker, symbolically took part in the creative process, being involved in the creation of the mosaic inspired by the ruby. Through this gesture, they expressed support of the idea linking natural resources with art and education, sending a strong message about the importance of creativity, inclusion and joint creation as drivers of sustainable future.

The workshop is part of the project „Skills–the key to the green economy“, supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, implemented by the Center for Nature and Culture research „Nature Expedition“ and the Association „Dialog“. The project combines geology, storytelling and art through the creation of a mosaic inspired by the ruby. An additional

value of the process is also the inclusive component– young people with Down syndrome are participate in the activities, giving the project strong social dimension.

As part of the activities, two mosaics are being created–one will be installed in the Marble complex in Belovodica as part of an open gallery concept, and the second to be exhibited at the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources.

The project „Skills–the key to the green economy“ opens a new perspective: from resource –to knowledge, from mineral–to story, from education–to sustainable future.
