On December 4th 2025, in Bitola, a workshop for building capacities of the municipal administration for preparing energy efficiency programs was held. The event was organized within the project „Support of energy reforms in the Republic of North Macedonia”, implemented with financial support from the Delegation of the European Union in North Macedonia.
The goal of the project is to ensure a high level of effective energy policy and strategic legal framework, to enable proper implementation and monitoring of processes, to increase the harmonization of national legislation with the European Union’s energy legal framework and to strengthen the institutional capacities of the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources.
At the workshop, the legal obligations of the local self-government units, including the units of the city of Skopje were presented, regarding preparation, submitting and reporting on energy efficiency programs.
Through presentations and practical exercises, the participants had the opportunity to become familiar with the entire process of preparing the program for energy efficiency, an annual plan for its implementation, a report on activities carried out in the previous year, as well as mechanisms for financing its implementation.
The workshop represents significant step in strengthening the capacities of local administration for effective management of energy resources and successful implementation of energy efficiency measures at local level. This workshop was planned for the municipalities of the Pelagonia, Vardar and Southwestern planning regions, and invitations were sent to them.
