Bozhinovska: Municipalities receive concrete support to implement more energy projects-practical trainings in all municipalities in the country have begun

The Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources has begun a national series of workshops dedicated to supporting municipalities in the preparation and implementation of as many energy efficiency projects as possible. These trainings will be held in several cities across the country aimed at strengthening local capacities and improving the implementation of European standards in energy planning.

As part of this initiative, a workshop for building capacities of municipal administration for preparation of energy efficiency programs was held today in Skopje.

The event was carried out within the project Support of energy reforms in the Republic of North Macedonia, financed by the Delegation of the European Union.

The project aims to establish a high level of effective energy policy, improve the legal framework and support institutions in the consistent application and monitoring of the processes related to energy efficiency.

The minister for energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska opened the workshop, emphasizing that the municipalities must engage and implement measures that bring real savings and faster modernization of the public infrastructure.

Local self-governments must become the driving force of the energy transformation. Our task is to provide them with tools, guidelines and support so that they can implement more projects, faster and more efficiently. It is time for each municipality to take advantage of the possibilities offered by the European rules and modern models of financing”.

Representatives from the municipalities in the Skopje region and the City of Skopje were present at the meeting. Through presentations, discussions and practical exercises, the participants received detailed guidance on preparing an energy efficiency program, an annual plan for implementation, as well as information on financing mechanisms and access to data necessary for energy planning. Particular focus was placed on practical sessions for working with databases, identifying measures for energy efficiency and using standardized forms and tables developed within the project.

The Ministry will continue organizing such trainings in all planning regions, aimed at enabling professional support for the preparation of quality, real and financially sustainable programs for energy efficiency for every municipality.
