First joint coordination of the Management and Supervisory Board of MEPSO at the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources

For the first time, a joint meeting was held at the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources with the Management and Supervisory Board of MEPSO-a format that ensures faster and more efficient coordination in the functioning of the transmission system.

Minister Sanja Bozhinovska said that regular coordination is necessary because MEPSO, as one of the key pillars of the country’s energy security, must operate flawlessly, with stable project dynamics and without delays.

In conditions when energy stability is a state priority, it is essential that the transmission grid should be continuously maintained, to be modernized and developed in line with the European standards, with a clear strategy and daily operational discipline. Only through joint and timely coordination, together with the Management and Supervisory board, can possible delays with the key projects be overcome, administrative obstacles resolved in time and continuous modernization and maintenance of the transmission grid ensured“, Bozhinovska emphasized.

At the meeting, the following key points were discussed:

·         The progress and the current status of the major infrastructure projects under realization.

·         The planning and prioritization of new strategic projects for strengthening the grid.

  • The challenges in everyday operations and the models for their overcoming to achieve greater efficiency and improved operations.

Starting next year, MEPSO will become a full member of the Joint Allocation Office (JAO)the unique European platform for auctions of cross-border transmission capacities. By joining JAO, the Macedonian system operator enters the harmonized European model for electricity trading with Serbia and Bulgaria, while with other neighboring countries we remain at the regional platform (CEO). This membership will enable more efficient management of cross-border capacities, greater transparency and integration of the Macedonian market with European energy flows.

The Ministry will continue with regular communication and coordination with MEPSO to ensure a stable, modern and secure transmission system which is the foundation of the country’s energy security and development.

Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources
