Washington sends a message: Bozhinovska signs Memorandum with the US–Energy becomes a key pillar of the strategic partnership and positions North Macedonia at a new level

Within the official visit of the high-level government delegation to the United States of America, the minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United States aimed at enhancing the security of natural gas supply.

The signing took place in Washington, as part of the Strategic dialogue with United States, a key platform for deepening the strategic partnership between both countries. The dialogue covers the most important areas of development–energy, economy, security and technology.

Minister Bozhinovska signed the Memorandum with the US Deputy-Secretary of State, Christopher Landau. Common understanding is that clear potential exists for intensifying cooperation, with a focus on projects that will deliver tangible results and contribute to the economic development and energy security of both countries.

The Memorandum confirms the joint commitment to: diversifying sources and routes for natural gas supply, increasing the resilience of the energy system, ensuring stable, secure and available gas for the country, strengthening regional connectivity and advancing markets integration.

The document also envisages specific steps for infrastructure development, improving transparency in gas markets, creating possibilities for the use of public and private financial instruments, including support from international financial institutions and export credit agencies. The focus of the discussions is clear-energy security, economic cooperation and concrete projects that bring stability, investments and development.

With this Agreement, North Macedonia strengthens its position at the regional energy flows, with clear orientation toward connecting with European markets, directly contributing to economic stability and long-term development.

As part of the Strategic dialogue, minister Bozhinovska participated in several thematic sessions and had bilateral meetings with high-level representatives of the U.S. administration.

A day earlier, Bozhinovska had a bilateral meeting at the White House with Jarrod Agen, Deputy Assistant to President Donald Trump and Executive director of the U.S. National Energy Dominance Council. During the meeting views were exchanged on advancing

bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, while Agen’s experience and knowledge of global energy flows were highlighted as an important foundation for developing future partnerships and projects.

Minister Bozhinovska emphasized her readiness to deepen cooperation and implement concrete initiatives, underscoring that the partnership with USA represents a significant factor for the long-term stability and development of the energy sector.

This step represents a strong confirmation of the strategic partnership with the United States and a clear signal that the country is positioning as a credible and active stakeholder in the regional and energy architecture.
