Bozhinovska: Knowledge as the foundation for mining policies–new partnership with the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy

The Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources continuously strengthens and enhances cooperation with relevant institutions in the country, with particular emphasis on the academic and scientific research community, as a key partner in creating sustainable, expert and long-term policies in the energy and mining sector.

In this context, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources and the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy- Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, was signed today, thereby establishing an institutional framework for strengthened and systematic cooperation in areas of common interest. The Memorandum was signed by the minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska and the dean of the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, Prof. Dr. Igor Jordanov.

The cooperation with the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy has particular importance in the context of the mining sector and the management of mineral resources, given the expertise, scientific research capacity and the long-standing role of the Faculty in educating expert staff and developing applied solutions in metallurgy, material and industry processes.

The mining must not be conducted improvisationally. The decisions must be based on science, expertise and data. The cooperation with the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy enables us to establish a direct link between institutions and the knowledge generated within the academic communityknowledge that is essential for responsible management of mineral resources and for the long-term development of the sector “, minister Bozhinovska emphasized

The Memorandum provides for cooperation through joint student and applied projects, expert and scientific support, organization of trainings, workshops and conferences, formation of expert teams, as well as the exchange of knowledge and experiences relevant for modern, responsible and sustainable management of mining resourcesSpecial emphasis will be placed on the opportunity for students and future experts to become closely acquainted with the work of the ministry through practical training.

The Ministry recognizes the academic community as an essential partner in improving the quality of public policies, particularly in sensitive and strategic sectors such as mining and mineral resources, where decisions must be based on science, data and expert analysis.

The signing of this Memorandum is part of the broader strategy of the Ministry for institutional connection with higher education and scientific institutions.

Until now, the Ministry has concluded Memoranda of Understanding also with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEIT), as well as with faculties within the Goce Delchev University – Shtip, with the aim of creating a network of knowledge, expertise, and support for the development of the sector.

With this, the Ministry sends a clear message that the reforms, development, and stability in energy and mining are built through partnership, knowledge, and institutional responsibility.
