The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, as part of her working visit to the municipality of Prilep, held a meeting with the mayor Dejan Prodanoski, whereas they discussed the situation and development opportunities in the mining sector, as well as the benefits that the local self-government gains from concession-related activities.
It was noted at the meeting that Prilep is one of the municipalities with the highest number of active concessionaires in the country, which directly contributes to local economic development, job creation, and increased revenue in the municipal budget. The participants discussed the effects of increased concessions, as well as the need to maintain a stable balance between economic development and environmental protection.
Particular accent was placed on the cooperation between the municipality and the concessionaires, highlighting the importance of consistent adherence to legal obligations and work standards, as well as continuous dialogue with the local community to ensure sustainable sector development.
“Mining development must be felt directly at the local level as well. Our goal is for municipalities to have real benefits, and for companies to operate according to the highest standards and regulations,” minister Bozhinovska said.
It was also discussed for the improvement of inspection oversight, announcing the opening of a new office of the State Inspectorate in Prilep. The new local presence of inspection services will enable greater on-site visibility, more efficient controls, and timely action, contributing to strengthened trust and transparency in the working process.
Minister Bozhinovska emphasized that the Ministry remains committed to a partnership-based relationship with local self-governments, with a clear goal — developing mining as an economic driver while fully respecting regulations and the interests of the citizens.
