Bozhinovska-Rama: The gas connection of the country is a key step toward energy stability and regional integration

The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska held a working meeting with the executive director of NOMAGAS AD Skopje, Nedim Rama, whereas the ongoing activities and the next steps for the development of the country’s gas infrastructure were reviewed.

The discussions focused on the construction of the interconnector with Greece, as one of the most significant strategic energy projects in the country. Also, at the meeting, an overview of the implementation progress to date was given, and also it was discussed about the course of construction activities and the coordination among institutions and the contractors, with the goal of ensuring that the project is completed according to planned deadlines.

Particular attention was also devoted to the preparations for the implementation of the interconnector with Serbia, whereas also the progress of the technical and administrative activities was reviewed, along with the current communication and coordination with the Serbian side.

Both parties agreed that regional gas connection represents an important step toward diversification of the sources for supply and increasing energy security.

The meeting also addressed the long-term plans for the development and expansion of the national gas pipeline grid, aimed at increasing the availability of the natural gas for industry, municipalities and the households, as well as supporting the energy transition and reducing pollution through cleaner energy solutions.

Minister Bozhinovska emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of infrastructure projects, noting that the development of the gas grid is a strategic priority that directly affects economic stability, the competitiveness of the business sector, and the security of energy supply.

Both parties concluded that a coordinated institutional approach and strengthened regional cooperation are crucial for successful positioning of the country as a stable energy hub in the region.
