Bozhinovska in Prague: The Macedonian power system is aligning with the European operational standards

A delegation led by the minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, had a working meeting with the Czech transmission system operator ÄŒEPS, a.s. based in Prague, within the intensive agenda to strengthen institutional capacities and align Macedonian power system with the European standards.  

The purpose of the visit was to exchange experiences and best practices, with a special focus on advanced operational and planning work of ÄŒEPS under the conditions of fully integrated European energy market and a strict regulatory framework. Representatives of the Macedonian transmission system operator-MEPSO were also part of the delegation, as a key bearer of stability and the development of the national transmission network. A bilateral meeting with M-r Martin Durcak, Chairman of the Board of ÄŒEPS was held during the visit.

As part of the visit, the delegation visited the National Dispatch Center of the Czech Republic, where advanced solutions for managing and dispatching the power system were reviewed, including the use of real-time operational tools, modernization processes of control centers, SCADA/EMS systems and strengthening of cyber security for critical energy infrastructure.

Accent was placed on long-term transmission network planning, integration of renewable energy sources and storage systems, as well as ensuring system flexibility and stability under conditions of accelerated energy transition.

Joint commitment for expanding cooperation between MEPSO and ÄŒEPS was expressed at the meeting, through exchange of experts, study visits, specialized trainings and possibility for establishing long-term framework for technical cooperation of strategic importance.

The working visit to Prague represents concrete and significant step in strengthening institutional and technical capacities of the Macedonian power system and a clear signal for the commitment of the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources for systematic modernization, stability and full alignment with the European best practices.
