The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska held a joint meeting with the biggest concessionaires in the region, during her working visit in Prilep. The meeting focused on the actual situation in the mining sector, the challenges that the companies are facing and the opportunities for further development.
Representatives of many companies with significant roles in the exploitation and processing of mineral resources attended the meeting. In an open discussion, they talked about the current work dynamics, investments in production modernization, the challenges related to administrative procedures, as well as the need for a predictable and stable regulatory framework that would enable long-term planning and new investments.
Minister Bozhinovska emphasized that the state has a clear interest in developing mining as a strong economic sector, but exclusively with full compliance with legal obligations, environmental standards and the safety rules.
„The partnership with companies is important, but the trust of citizens is even more important. Therefore, the development must go hand in hand with responsibility, transparency and strengthened oversight”, Bozhinovska stated.
The concessionaires welcomed the initiative for more frequent direct meetings with the institutions, noting that this approach enables faster resolution of open issues and better coordination within the sector.
The meeting also highlighted the need for enhanced field inspections, emphasizing that the opening of the new office of the State Inspectorate in Prilep will contribute to more efficient oversight, equal working conditions and additional strengthening of the industry standards.
