Bozhinovska with WOBA Ambassadors: Leadership is Not a Male Privilege

Bozhinovska with WOBA Ambassadors: Leadership is Not a Male Privilege

The Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, actively engaged in the regional initiative Women on Boards Adria (WOBA), aimed at strengthening women’s leadership at the highest decision-making levels – in governing boards, executive councils, and key institutions.

As an ambassador for WOBA in Macedonia, Bozhinovska participated in a working meeting with other ambassadors from the region, focusing on practical steps to increase women's representation in decision-making – not as a formality, but as an essential element of modern leadership. The Minister used this platform to emphasize the importance of women in leadership roles, aligning with the Ministry’s strategic goals to create a fair and competitive economic environment.

“Gender equality in the leadership of institutions and companies is not just a matter of equality and fair representation, but a key prerequisite for modern, responsible, and inclusive governance. As a Minister, my goal is to create conditions where women not only have access to decision-making positions but are also recognized and valued for their contribution. That is why I support every process that opens the door for more women in decision-making,” said Minister Bozhinovska.

She added that the Ministry of Energy is actively working on policies that promote equal opportunities, especially in sectors where women are traditionally underrepresented, such as energy. Within the WOBA agenda, the Minister also attended a networking event dedicated to inspirational leadership, courage, and influence, where leaders from the region discussed regional support for women in key roles and the specific tools they need to amplify their voices in governance.

The Women on Boards Adria initiative advocates for systemic change through networking, direct collaboration with institutions and the business sector, and mentoring programs.

The Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources is committed to creating policies and programs that will increase women's representation in decision-making processes, contributing to economic competitiveness and social cohesion. Minister Bozhinovska’s participation in WOBA is just one step towards achieving this vision.

Respectfully,
Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources
