Bozinovska: International energy experts in Skopje – and the German Agency for International Cooperation with support for the Energy Forum

Minister Sanja Bozinovska held a meeting with Mr. David Oberhuber, director of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in our country.

The focus of the meeting was strengthening the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry and GIZ, with a special emphasis on the preparations for the upcoming 14th International Energy Forum for Sustainable Development to be held from 28th to 30th October 2025 in Skopje, under the motto "From Goals to Action: Powering the Future with Sustainable Energy".

The event is organized by the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the five regional commissions of the United Nations.

As a long-term partner of Macedonia in the field of sustainable development and energy, GIZ confirmed its readiness to provide active support to the event - through the mobilization of international and domestic experts, as well as participation in the conceptualization and organization of thematic panel discussions.

During the meeting, an overview was made of the current projects implemented with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation, especially in the field of energy efficiency. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the results so far, which show concrete progress in improving national capacities and improving the conditions for more efficient management of energy resources.

In addition to current initiatives, future directions of strategic cooperation were also discussed. Opportunities for the development of new joint projects for 2026 were considered, which would focus on supporting the energy transition process, digitalization of the energy sector, as well as improving institutional capacities through technical and expert assistance.

Minister Bozinovska emphasized the importance of the continued support from GIZ, assessing this cooperation as extremely valuable for the promotion of sustainable and inclusive policies in the energy sector. She added that the Ministry remains open to further deepening the partnership, in order to ensure a stable, green and innovative energy future for the citizens of Macedonia.
