Bozhinovska among energy leaders at the P-TEC forum in Athens – focus on the new transatlantic cooperation

The Sixth Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC) – a global Forum that brings together the energy ministers from 25 countries in Europe and North America, dedicated to advancing energy security and strategic infrastructure projects, officially launched in Athens today.

At the invitation of the US Secretary of energy, Chris Wright and the Greek minister of energy Stavros Papastavrou, minister Bozhinovska attended the opening ceremony of the Forum and the signing of the new cooperation agreement between the US and Greece.

The Forum, which brings together energy ministers from 25 countries from Europe and North America, is a leading platform for dialogue on energy security, diversification of sources and strategic investments in the region.

A strategic energy agreement between ExxonMobil, Energean and Helleniq Energy, which provides for a 60% investment share in the exploration of the Block 2 gas field in the Ionian Sea, northwest of Corfu was signed at the event.

With this move, the United States and Greece opened a new phase of bilateral energy cooperation, worth between $50 and $100 million, aimed at strengthening regional security and diversifying the European market.

The presence of minister Bozhinovska among energy leaders and representatives of the European Union, the United States and the region was highly noted by the hosts, as an expression of respect for Macedonia and its active role in regional energy cooperation.

In his address, Greek minister of energy, Papastavrou mentioned North Macedonia as an example of successful and stable regional cooperation, emphasizing that joint energy projects with Macedonia are a model for trust and integration in Southeast Europe. Yesterday evening, minister Bozhinovska, at the special invitation of the newly appointed United States Ambassador to Athens, Kimberly Guilfoyle, also attended the reception in honor of US Secretary of energy, Chris Wright and US Secretary of Interior, Doug Burgum, organized at the US Embassy in Athens.

The event was of high diplomatic nature, attended by the US delegation, European ministers and representatives of leading energy companies, with the aim of strengthening the transatlantic partnership and investments in clean energy and infrastructure.

The P-TEC Forum, being held at the Zappeion Megaron, this year gathered over 400 high-ranking representatives from 25 countries, and confirmed that energy cooperation between Europe and the US is becoming a strategic axis of stability and development in the region. Macedonia's presence at such forums is confirmation that our country is moving equally with European and transatlantic partners in the new energy era.
