Bozhinovska: North Macedonia Closer to Energy Efficiency Through the World Bank Fund

The Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, today held a working meeting with representatives of the World Bank.

 

The focus of the discussions was on energy efficiency and North Macedonia's efforts to achieve energy independence and a transition to renewable energy sources, as well as the opportunities and benefits offered by the Energy Efficiency Fund and collaboration with the World Bank in this area.

 

At the meeting, World Bank energy experts Aditya Lukas (Task Team Leader, Senior Energy Specialist), Rhedon Begolli (Deputy Country Manager, Energy Specialist), and Ivan Krofak (Energy Consultant) presented the financial framework of the Energy Efficiency Fund, emphasizing the benefits and importance of this fund for achieving North Macedonia's goals.

 

The World Bank representatives also informed the minister about the current implementation of energy efficiency projects at the national and municipal levels. The discussions also covered future project opportunities to strengthen cooperation and achieve the desired results.

 

The meeting confirmed the World Bank's continuous commitment to providing financial, technical, and organizational support in the field of energy to ensure a swift green transition in North Macedonia's energy sector.

 

Participants of the meeting reiterated the excellent cooperation to date and their commitment to further deepen it.

 

The World Bank, in cooperation with Macedonian institutions, is conducting the Systematic Country Diagnostic to identify the critical barriers and opportunities to promote joint prosperity in a sustainable manner.
