Women in energy are not the exception-they are the future

The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska opened today’s event „Women’s leadership dialogue in energy “, dedicated to the role of women in the energy sector and their increased involvement in the development of renewable energy sources and energy communities.

In her address, minister Bozhinovska emphasized that the energy transition is a process that directly affects people, communities and economic development, and that the role of the women in this transformation is essential.

„When we talk about energy transition, we are not talking about technologies, megawatts and investments. We are talking about people, about communities and about possibilities. And precisely here, the role of women is irreplaceable”, Bozhinovska stated.

She noted that despite progress, women remain underrepresented in the energy sector, especially in technical and managerial positions, and that systematic steps are needed to change this situation.

„If we want more women in the energy sector, we must act systematically–we must encourage girls to choose technical and scientific professions, create mentorship and professional development programs and to ensure fair and transparent possibilities for advancement “, the minister pointed out.

The regional project „Women in energy–WIN“ was presented at the event, whose aim is strengthening the role of women in energy sector through training, networking and building knowledge for new possibilities within the sector, including participation in energy communities and the development of renewable energy projects.
Minister Bozhinovska, in her address, sent a strong message to young women to be brave and not to fear to enter fields that were traditionally considered to be male-dominated.

„Energy needs your creativity, your vision and your courage. You are the future engineers, experts, entrepreneurs and leaders. Your time begins right now “, the minister said.

She emphasized that the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources remains committed to creating conditions for greater inclusiveness in the sector, supporting initiatives that encourage women to actively participate in the energy transition and the development of the green economy.
