120 young girls and female students from five countries around the world joined the international online event dedicated to women’s leadership in energy, engineering and mining.
Women’s leadership, knowledge and courage in strategic industries was the focus of the online event „Leading in Energy and Mining: The Professional Journey of Sanja Bozhinovska“, which brought together young students, experts and leaders from the energy and engineering sectors.
The event, organized by the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources, the Limak Foundation, Women on Boards Adria (WOBA) and Global Engineer Girls (GEG), connected young women from North Macedonia, Turkey, Kosovo, Spain and Mozambique, with the aim of inspiring them to build careers in STEM fields and to take on leadership roles in strategic industries.
The central point of the event was the inspiring professional story of Sanja Bozhinovska, the minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, who shared with the participants her career experiences and her vision for the development of the energy sector in a time of rapid technological and systematic change.
„Energy systems transform, and technology is evolving faster than ever before. Therefore, we need new generations of engineers and leaders–and among them, an increasing number of young women whose knowledge and ambition will shape the future of this sector“, minister Bozhinovska emphasized.
She stressed that true leadership in the energy sector is built through knowledge, responsibility and teamwork.
„True leadership means being the most prepared, most consistent and most dedicated to results. There is no sector too complex, no position too high and no challenge big enough for women who are ready to lead “, Bozhinovska stated.
Tanja Mihajlovska Dimitrievska, representative of Women on Boards Adria, also addressed at the event, speaking of the importance of increasing the presence of women in management structures and the decision-making processes.
„Increased representation of women in management boards and leadership positions is not just a matter of equality–it is a precondition for better governance, stronger institutions and more sustainable economic development“.
The event was also dedicated to the female students participating in the Global Engineer Girls program, an international initiative that supports young women in STEM fields through scholarships, mentorship, internships, professional training and employment possibilities.
Opening the event, Ms. Eda Yeginaltay Kurt, member of the Board of the Limak Foundation emphasized that such initiatives play a key role in inspiring the new generation of women leaders.
„It is exactly through events like this that young women are given the space to see real examples of leadership, to hear authentic professional stories and to understand that their ambitions in these sectors are not only possible-but also necessary“.
The organizers emphasized that such events create a space for dialogue between generations – between the women who already make decisions and lead strategic sectors, and the young women who will shape the future of energy, technology, and sustainable development. In their message to the students, they stressed that they are not alone on their professional journey.
“The path may not always be easy, but it is possible – and you are not walking it alone,” the organizers said.
With this initiative, a clear message is being sent that the future of energy and engineering is inclusive, innovative, and increasingly led by women leaders.
“Energy and mining drive economies. But leadership – ethical, inclusive, and visionary – is what drives true progress”, minister Bozhinovska emphasized.
