The Government of the Republic of North Macedonia has adopted the Annual plan for the implementation of the Just transition for 2026, thereby continuing the systematic implementation of the process of just energy and economic transformation of the country.
With the adoption of this Plan, the Government and the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources confirm their commitment to securing just transition that considers the socio-economic consequences for communities and workers in regions affected by the transition, with a special focus on opening new employment opportunities, reskilling of the workforce and fostering sustainable local economic development.
With mechanisms provided, a coordinated approach among competent institutions and public enterprises is enabled.
The Annual plan for 2026 has been prepared in accordance with national strategic documents and the Reform agenda, and the obligations undertaken within the process of accelerated transition from coal to sustainable and low-carbon energy sources. The Plan represents an operational document defining specific activities, timelines, competent institutions and necessary resources for its implementation.
The Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources is tasked with publishing the Annual plan on its website and coordinating its implementation, while the line ministries and relevant institutions will prioritize activities within their annual programs, with regular reporting on progress in implementation.
The Annual plan for the implementation of the just transition for 2026 represents an important step toward more efficient and coordinated implementation of the planned reforms, strengthening the institutional framework and enhancing cooperation with international partners and financial institutions.
