The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozinovska, held a working meeting today with representatives of the World Bank, whereas current and future activities aimed at improving the energy sector in the Republic of Macedonia, with a focus on energy transition, increased efficiency and development of renewable energy sources were discussed.
The readiness to deepen cooperation in the areas of energy transition, renewable energy sources and modernization of energy infrastructure was highlighted at the meeting. Special attention was paid to new investment projects that should ensure long-term stability and security of energy supply.
The representatives of the World Bank expressed the institution's unreserved readiness to support the Republic of Macedonia in the process of accelerated energy transition.
The “Program-for-Results” – a World Bank instrument that enables support for long-term projects with clearly defined indicators for monitoring, transparency and evaluation of results was also presented at the meeting. The program is particularly applicable in sectors where institutional transformation, investment and resource management are necessary.
The Ministry presented several priority areas for future cooperation, including:
• increasing renewable energy capacities,
• digitalization and modernization of energy infrastructure,
• as well as a new energy efficiency project in the residential sector, which would provide direct benefits to households and citizens through measures for improving energy efficiency in homes.
Minister Bozinovska confirmed the Ministry’s commitment to concrete reforms, strategic planning and improvement of regulations in line with international practices. She expressed gratitude to the World Bank for its continued support, assessing it as key to accelerating the green transition and a stable energy system in the country.
The Ministry will continue with active cooperation with international financial institutions for the realization of strategic projects that support the economic development and energy security of the Republic of Macedonia.
