The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska held a working meeting with Artur Lorkowski, director of the Energy Community Secretariat, the regional organization that connects the European Union’s energy market with the countries of Southeast Europe and monitors the implementation of European energy legislation.
The meeting was also attended by Zoran Gjorgjievski, manager of the National Electricity Market Operator „MEMO DOOEL” Skopje, and Aleksandar Paunoski, the deputy-general director of AD „MEPSO“. Discussions focused on the key reform steps in the energy sector and on North Macedonia’s progress in aligning with European energy policies.
The main points of discussion included:
- the country’s progress in the energy sector reforms,
- strengthening energy stability and security of supply,
- integrating the national market with the regional and European energy market,
- accelerating decarbonization processes and increasing the share of renewable energy sources.
The implementation of ongoing energy projects in various areas was presented at the meeting, emphasizing the country’s commitment to accelerating reform processes in the energy sector.
Minister Bozhinovska highlighted that the energy transition and system modernization are strategic priorities, with North Macedonia actively working to create a stable, competitive and sustainable energy system.
„Our goal is clear-an energy system that ensures stability, security and long-term sustainability. The reforms we are implementing are not merely an obligation under the European agenda, but an investment in the country’s energy independence and economic future“, minister Bozhinovska emphasized.
The director of the Energy Community Secretariat, Lorkowski highlighted the importance of continuing reforms and deepening regional cooperation as key preconditions for full integration of the countries in the region into the European energy market.
