The Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, during her official visit to Washington on September 9, 2024, met with Aleksandar Kasanov, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Balkans.
The meeting, held at the State Department and attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Izet Mejiti, focused on the current situation in Macedonia, particularly in the energy sector and the government’s efforts to increase investment to accelerate the country’s energy transition.
A key topic discussed was the fight against corruption, with Bozhinovska emphasizing the need for complete support and effective cooperation with the USA as a strategic partner, especially in the energy sector. She stressed that only through decisive steps can Macedonia secure energy security and a stable power system.
Bozhinovska and Mejiti also highlighted the government's commitment to improving citizens’ living standards and significantly increasing investments in infrastructure and education.
Kasanov expressed strong American support for the Western Balkans and reiterated their commitment to assisting in the EU accession process.
