A delegation from the Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources paid an official visit to the Geological Survey of Slovenia today. The visit represents an important opportunity to exchange experiences and establish cooperation in the fields of geology, mining and environmental protection.
At the meeting with the Slovenian experts, several topics of mutual interest were discussed, including:
• Expert assistance on legal regulation
An analysis of the Slovenian legislation in the field of geology and mining was presented, with possibilities for adapting good practices in the Macedonian context.
• Expert support for the development of the Strategy 2025–2045
The inclusion of long-term goals for sustainable management of geological resources and the integration of climate and environmental aspects in strategic planning was discussed.
• Cooperation between geological surveys
A memorandum of cooperation between geological surveys was signed, with the aim of formalizing partnerships, joint research activities, as well as the exchange of data, technologies and expertise.
• Joint projects for reclamation and mapping of critical points
Opportunities for initiating joint projects for the rehabilitation of degraded areas and geological mapping of risk zones in North Macedonia were identified.
This visit lays the foundations for intensifying institutional and expert cooperation with Slovenia, which will contribute to the advancement of Macedonian policies and practices in the field of geology, mining and environmental protection.
