The Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, participated in the 9th edition of the Annual Central and Eastern Europe Energy Security Conference, organized by the Global Energy Center of the Atlantic Council. The event was held on September 10, 2024, in Washington, and it brought together prominent leaders and policymakers to address key challenges in energy security, transatlantic cooperation, and Europe’s energy future, supported by the U.S.
As one of the key speakers at the conference, Minister Bozhinovska, along with U.S. and European energy representatives, shared her views on significant topics for the sector and energy security in Europe. The participation of a minister from our country in such a prestigious conference highlights our active engagement in advancing energy security and fostering cooperation with global partners.
"The Central and Eastern Europe Energy Security Conference is a platform for interaction with key global energy leaders, and at the same time, an opportunity to strengthen our influence in regional energy discussions. By aligning the country’s energy policies with broader transatlantic strategies, strengthening partnerships with U.S. and European leaders, and attracting potential investments, we are practically realizing our commitment to energy security and sustainability, which is one of the priorities I emphasized for the Ministry. Through active involvement, we will gain equal status and treatment in shaping policies related to the geopolitical challenges affecting the region," said Minister Bozhinovska.
In her address, Minister Bozhinovska emphasized that the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources is actively working to strengthen partnerships within international institutions collaborating with the country in the energy sector, such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank. She also stressed that, in addition to economic cooperation, the exchange of knowledge and best practices from the neighborhood and the broader region is equally important. Furthermore, she stated that the green transition is not only desirable but necessary for Macedonia and the entire region, and that it represents a joint initiative focused on a better future for the entire region.
This established event provides an opportunity to present our country’s energy priorities on the global stage and engage in discussions about energy policy, supply security, and the recovery of the energy sector during an economic crisis. As the region continues to navigate complex geopolitical tensions and the ongoing energy transition, this conference provides a platform for Macedonia to further strengthen partnerships in shaping Europe’s energy future.
