Energy efficiency in practice – “Lazo Angelovski” is one of the first schools with an energy consumption monitoring system

The Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources today visited the Primary school “Lazo Angelovski” in the municipality of Aerodrom, where modern systems for smart metering and management of electricity consumption have already been installed and are successfully operating – part of the initiative that began with the signed Memorandum of cooperation with Macedonian Telekom.

The мinister Sanja Bozhinovska, the CEO of Macedonian Telekom, Goran Markovic and the mayor of the municipality of Aerodrom, Dejan Miteski were present at the meeting.

Those present were introduced to the functioning of the smart system, which allows for real-time monitoring of electricity consumption, identification of unnecessary losses and creation of strategies for more efficient use of resources.

“With such projects, we confirm the determination that energy efficiency must start from the foundations – from schools. What we saw today at “Lazo Angelovski” is proof that partnerships with the private sector can bring concrete and measurable results for public institutions”, minister Sanja Bozhinovska emphasized.

The CEO of Macedonian Telekom Goran Markovic emphasized that the company remains consistent with its strategy for digitalization and energy sustainability:

“Energy efficiency is key to our future and we can achieve it only by joint work. With our modern technology and partnership with institutions, we can make a real difference for citizens and society. This donation is a decisive first step towards energy-efficient schools and institutions that bring progress and protect resources for future generations.”

The Mayor of the municipality of Aerodrom, Dejan Miteski expressed gratitude to the Ministry and Macedonian Telekom for their support:

“As a municipality, we are proud that one of our schools is among the first examples of such modern technology. This is a step that improves the local infrastructure and lays the foundation for a wider application of smart solutions in education”.

The school’s principal, Magdalena Petrevska, highlighted the practical benefits for the teaching and administrative staff:

“The system allows us to better organize costs and have greater energy discipline. But the most important thing is that children learn by example – that rational use of energy is a daily obligation for all of us”.

This is the first step in introducing smart monitoring and management of electricity consumption in public institutions, and besides in "Lazo Angelovski", the smart metering and management system for electricity has also been implemented in the primary schools "Mirce Acev" (Gjorce Petrov), "Ismail Qemali" (Cair) and "Kiril Pejcinovic" (Kisela Voda).
