The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, participated today at the panel-discussion „Institutional and legal framework supporting sustainable corporate practices“, within the Business Forum „Turning sustainability into competitiveness: Building resilient businesses in an uncertain world“, organized by the Ministry of foreign affairs and foreign trade, Economic chamber and the Office of the UN Resident coordinator.
In her address, the minister said that sustainability today is not only environmental objective, but one of the most important economic preconditions for the development, competitiveness and stability of the domestic companies.
„Just a few years ago, the green transition was seen as additional cost. Today it is the best investment a company can make. Companies that invest in energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and new technologies will be the companies that export more, attract more investments and create more jobs tomorrow“, Bozhinovska emphasized.
She stressed that the Ministry places the green transition as a driver of the economic growth, creating a stable, transparent and European-aligned regulatory framework that enables companies to invest with confidence and to plan for the long-term.
„Our task is to create conditions whereas the green transition will not be burden for the economy, but its biggest developing possibility. Therefore, we are introducing modern laws, simplifying regulations and providing concrete financial support for investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources“, the minister said.
Bozhinovska, in her speech noted that the new Energy law already sets the modern framework aligned with the European legislation, while the Renewable Energy Law represents one of the most significant energy reforms in the last decades.
Referring to the development of renewable energy, Bozhinovska pointed out that the Ministry is introducing a new, transparent system for planning investments in the energy grid, with clear rules that will ensure stability of the system and investor confidence.
„We would like the companies to be active participants in the new energy economy, not just consumers. Our goal is to create conditions in which everyone investing in their own production of energy, storage and modern technologies becomes part of the country’s energy transformation“, Bozhinovska highlighted.
She added that in parallel, the Ministry is investing in the modernization of the energy infrastructure, digitalization of the system and the simplification of the procedures for the companies, which will accelerate the integration of the new capacities for production of electricity.
At the end of her speech, the minister sent a clear message to the business community:
„Reducing emissions, energy efficiency and decarbonization are not merely about meeting European standards–they are the smartest business decision for any company that wants to be competitive and successful on long term. The Ministry will continue to be a strong partner of the economy in this process“, minister Sanja Bozhinovska stated.
