Bozhinovska: Joint support from the state and companies for energy sustainability – another school with a smart system for monitoring energy consumption

Energy efficiency must begin at the foundation –from our schools, where we educate future citizens and professionals. In the presence of the minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska and the mayor of Gazi Baba municipality, Boban Stefkovski, a memorandum of cooperation was signed at the primary school “Naum Naumovski Borche” in Madzari, along with a donation of smart devices for monitoring and managing electricity consumption. The memorandum was signed by the school’s director Elizabeta Temelkovska and Sparkasse Bank representative Zlatica Civkarovski.

With this memorandum, the process of installing the advanced solution Smart Energy Metering and Management (SEMM) begins at “Naum Naumovski Borce”, making the school part of the network of public institutions introducing smart monitoring and management of electricity consumption.

“Through such concrete steps, we send the message that every institution and every individual, has a role in sustainable energy management. At the same time, with such projects we teach the young generations to awareness, responsibility and rational use of energy – values that are essential for the future we are building together”, minister Bozhinovska emphasized.

Such systems have already been installed in four Skopje primary schools:

  • Mirche Acev – Municipality of Gorche Petrov
  • Ismail Qemali – Municipality of Cair
  • Kiril Pejcinovic – Municipality of Kisela Voda
  • Lazo Angelovski – Municipality of Aerodrom

Minister Bozhinovska stressed that this is the first step toward systematically introducing digital solutions for energy efficiency in the public sector, especially in education.

“We hope that more companies will follow this example and will get involved in solutions that will help these institutions to manage electricity consumption and costs more easily and efficiently”, Bozhinovska noted.

She added that companies should not only be technologically innovative but also socially responsible and that private sector support for schools and hospitals is essential in the context of global energy challenges.

The school expressed gratitude for the support and partnership, emphasizing that such initiatives are important not only for saving energy but also for educating students in the spirit of responsibility toward the community and the environment.

During the visit, minister Bozhinovska, mayor Stefkovski and the representatives of Sparkasse Bank spoke with teachers and students, who presented their vision of the “green school of the future” and the activities they are already implementing in the direction of energy and environmental awareness.
