The Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, held a working meeting with representatives of the German KfW Bank, where they discussed opportunities for future investments in the energy sector and the bank’s support in the transformation process of ESM AD into a profitable and modern company.
During the meeting, KfW representatives confirmed their commitment to cooperation with Macedonia in the field of sustainable energy. They highlighted the importance of strategic investments that will contribute to the modernization of energy infrastructure and accelerate the transition to renewable energy sources.
KfW Bank is already involved in significant energy projects in the country, such as financing the second phase of the Bogdanci Wind Farm and the construction of the Bitola 2 solar power plant. These investments, worth 55 million euros, will provide additional capacities for renewable energy, strengthening the country’s energy independence.
The Bogdanci Wind Farm, with the new turbines, will increase its electricity generation, while the Bitola 2 solar power plant, which will be completed in 2027, will produce up to 90 GWh annually – enough to supply 20,000 households.
KfW Bank emphasized its commitment to supporting the Macedonian government in meeting climate and energy goals, aligned with European standards.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue cooperation, especially in the area of investments in renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency at the national level.
Respectfully,
Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources
