The Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, is participating in the 21st Vienna Economic Forum (VEF) – "Vienna Future Dialogue 2024" in Vienna, Austria. As part of this year’s theme, "The Regional Economy as Part of the European and Global Economy", the Vienna Economic Forum brought together leaders from across Europe to discuss key economic and political issues shaping the region's future.
“What I heard today has strengthened my optimism about Macedonia’s energy future, especially in terms of energy sustainability, economic competitiveness, and environmental responsibility,” stated Bozhinovska.
“It was an honor to represent our country at the 21st Vienna Economic Forum, where I had the opportunity to participate in an extremely important discussion on the shared responsibility of the economy and politics in securing a sustainable European future. As part of the panel, together with the other participants, I had the chance to exchange views and insights on how countries can collectively strengthen economic resilience, deepen their commitment to energy transition, and address the challenges brought by global changes in the energy sector.
One of the key topics we discussed was how well-designed strategies for sustainable energy, investments in renewable energy sources, and responsible mining practices can simultaneously promote economic growth and environmental care. In this sense, I emphasized the importance of such events, which are essential for sharing best practices and experiences, and for further building our domestic capacities through stronger cooperation.
For our country, participating in such discussions is not only policy but also a reflection of our ongoing work and strategy to integrate renewable energy sources, support economic stability, and build strong partnerships. We are committed to developing a long-term strategic approach that integrates several segments – promoting policies aligned with EU energy standards, reducing our dependence on conventional resources, and embracing ecological practices in our energy and mining sectors.
Participation in gatherings such as the Vienna Economic Forum highlights the importance and role of our country in a broader European context and the great significance of a united approach to these challenges. What I heard today has strengthened my optimism about Macedonia’s energy future, particularly in the domain of energy sustainability, economic competitiveness, and environmental responsibility.
By continuing our cooperation with our European and international partners, I am confident that step by step, through smart solutions and decisions, we will build our energy independence according to European standards,” said Bozhinovska.
Minister Bozhinovska participated in the third session of the Forum, titled “Shared Responsibility of Economy and Politics for a Secure European Future,” which discussed the collective responsibilities of the political and economic sectors in ensuring a stable, sustainable, and prosperous future for Europe.
Minister Sanja Bozhinovska’s participation in the Vienna Economic Forum reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources and our country to exchanging experiences with European and global experts, engaging in dialogues, and contributing to the European agenda for sustainable growth, improvement of energy efficiency, and strengthening of regional stability.
Through her participation and meetings, the Minister continues to work on strengthening cooperation with European partners for a greener, more secure, and more resilient energy future in the country.
