The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozinovska, today visited the construction site for the construction of the new Ohrid substation (TS Ohrid), part of the MEPSO Macedonia-Albania interconnection project. The project includes two units – LOT 1: the Bitola - border crossing with Albania overhead transmission line and LOT 2: construction of the Ohrid substation near the village of Mesheishta.
During the field visit, minister Bozinovska was informed about the progress of the intensive construction activities taking place on an area of 80,000 square meters: construction of retaining walls and slopes, construction works on the command building, completed foundations and the start of installation of steel beams and equipment in the 400 kV plant.
"With the implementation of this project, North Macedonia is building a bridge to the European electricity markets, creating conditions for stable and economical supply for citizens and opening space for the connection of new producers from renewable sources - which is our top priority", minister Bozinovska emphasized.
The construction of the new 400 kV line is a strategic strengthening of the stability and security of the country's electricity grid. This completes the electricity connection with all neighbors, which allows not only increased stability and reliability, but also active participation in the markets for balancing and system services and energy exchange in the region.
During the visit, minister Bozinovska was welcomed and informed in detail about the progress of the project by the project manager Darko Dokuzovski.
This visit is part of minister Bozinovska's efforts to regularly visit the energy capacities in order to be informed and have a regular overview.
