Bozhinovska at the Intergovernmental Session in Budapest: “Building a Modern and Sustainable Energy Future with Hungary”

The Minister of Energy, Mineral Resources, and Mining, Sanja Bozhinovska, participated in the Second Intergovernmental Session between the Governments of North Macedonia and Hungary, held in Budapest.

Minister Bozhinovska addressed the joint meeting of the governments of North Macedonia and Hungary, emphasizing the importance of energy cooperation as a key factor for economic development and energy security.

In her speech, the Minister highlighted the reforms that North Macedonia is implementing in the energy sector and the potential for cooperation with Hungary in the field of renewable energy, modernization of energy infrastructure, and innovations in energy efficiency.

“North Macedonia is embracing the future with bold energy reforms, where the new Energy Law is not just a technical document but a strategic tool that will attract investments, increase energy independence, and accelerate renewables. We are working intensively on solutions to attract greater investments in the energy sector, to strengthen the energy independence of our country, accelerate the development of renewable energy sources, and align our energy standards with the highest European norms,” emphasized Bozhinovska.

Minister Bozhinovska pointed out the natural advantage of North Macedonia, with over 280 sunny days per year, which makes the country a natural hub for solar energy. She also emphasized that the doors of North Macedonia are open to investments, with a strong commitment to building an energy system that benefits everyone.

The Minister underlined that this partnership with Hungary is an example of how strategic collaborations can bring concrete results — from improving energy efficiency to enhancing interconnectivity and developing innovative energy solutions.

“By combining our visions, expertise, and resources, we can create more resilient energy systems that will ensure secure, clean, and accessible energy supply for our citizens and economies. This is not only a shared vision but a shared responsibility – to build a secure, modern, and sustainable energy system that meets the needs of our citizens and economies,” concluded Bozhinovska.

Respectfully,
Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources
