Bozhinovska at the Economic Committee in Prague: North Macedonia Strengthens Ties with the Czech Republic

The Joint Meeting for Economic Cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Czech Republic was held in Prague, where steps were agreed upon to deepen bilateral cooperation in various sectors.

The Macedonian delegation was led by the Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, Ms. Sanja Bozhinovska, who is actively committed to strengthening economic ties with the Czech Republic and initiating concrete steps to attract investments and expand business cooperation between the two countries. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr. Aleksandar Nikolovski, along with representatives from various line ministries, also held working meetings with their Czech counterparts. Discussions covered cooperation in the areas of energy, transport, internal and foreign affairs, culture, environmental protection, agriculture, and other sectors of mutual interest.

Minister Bozhinovska, in her address to the delegations, emphasized North Macedonia’s readiness to support Czech investors in realizing their business plans and to provide a stable and predictable business environment with favorable investment conditions.

“North Macedonia is open to strategic partnerships with Czech companies, particularly in energy, infrastructure, and industrial production.

We see the Czech Republic as a strategic partner in energy and industry. Our country offers a stable investment environment and clear regulations to protect businesses. At the same time, we are intensifying reforms in the energy sector to ensure a modern, sustainable, and competitive economy,” Bozhinovska stated.

“Through these direct meetings with Czech institutions and companies, we are opening up new opportunities for investments and partnerships. I am confident that this cooperation will result in concrete projects. North Macedonia and the Czech Republic have a long tradition of cooperation, and the establishment of a direct air route will facilitate economic and tourism exchange between the two countries. We expect this initiative to become a reality soon,” said Deputy Prime Minister Nikolovski.

In addition to official meetings, representatives from various ministries and institutions carried out on-site visits within their respective domains. The Macedonian delegation also included representatives from ESM (Power Plants of North Macedonia), Ohrid Summer Festival, and the Ministry of Culture, who discussed possibilities for deepening cooperation in the fields of energy, cultural exchange, and infrastructure projects.

During the visit, Bozhinovska also held a special meeting with the Czech Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Jan Kavalírek, where they discussed specific opportunities for experience exchange and expert assistance.

The official visit to the Czech Republic concluded with the signing of a protocol from the third session of the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation between North Macedonia and the Czech Republic, aimed at initiating concrete projects, deepening trade cooperation, and implementing joint initiatives.

Respectfully,
Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources
