Bozhinovska and Columbia: Deepening cooperation for green transition and empowerment of women and youth

The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, held a working meeting with Rita Columbia, United Nations Resident coordinator in North Macedonia.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation within the Framework for cooperation between North Macedonia and the United Nations for sustainable development 2026–2030, with particular emphasis on the priorities related to the energy transition, climate action, environmental protection and sustainable management of natural resources.

Particular attention was given to the Strategic priorityResilient and green society and ecosystems“, which envisions strengthening institutional capacities, improving climate resilience, reducing disaster risks and promoting clean and sustainable energy.

Minister Bozhinovska emphasized that the Ministry remains strongly committed to fulfilling national and international obligations within the energy transition and just development, highlighting the importance of partnership with international organizations as key supporters of reform processes.

At the meeting, the ongoing active cooperation between the two institutions and the joint activities of the minister Bozhinovska and the UN Resident coordinator, Columbia were highlighted, aimed at strengthening the role of women and youth in policy-making and leadership in the energy sector.

Both parties agreed that inspiring and encouraging young people and women to become drivers of change is fundamental for sustainable development. Additionally, they discussed opportunities for realization of new joint projects and initiatives in the future.

The Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources will continue to actively cooperate with the international partners toward building a more resilient, more inclusive and more sustainable society, whereas no one is left behind.
