Apply for an air conditioner or electricity subsidy: here's who is eligible and the documents needed

The Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources, based on the Program for the protection of vulnerable energy consumers for 2025 has announced Public announcements for support of households that fall into the category of vulnerable energy consumers, by granting:

1. The right to a purchased and installed inverter air conditioner with a power of 3.5 kW and an energy class of at least A+

2. Financial support for consumed electricity for persons who fall into the category of vulnerable consumers

 

Purpose of the Announcement

The announcement aims to provide protection for vulnerable consumers who are in a state of energy poverty, through promoting energy efficiency and improving the quality of life of households that meet established criteria for low income or are socially vulnerable.

 

1. Criteria for awarding an inverter air conditioner

Household categories:

• Low-income households, whose total net monthly income in 2024 did not exceed:

> 25,000 denars for a single-member household

> 31,000 denars for a two-member household

> 37,000 denars for a three-member household

> 43,000 denars for a four-member household and more

• Households in which the only income is a pension, and the total net monthly income in 2024 did not exceed:

> 15,700 denars for a single-member household

> 19,800 denars for a two-member household

> 23,700 denars for a three-member household and more

One person can submit only one application for one household.

The right to an inverter air conditioner cannot be realised by households that have used a subsidy for the purchase of an air conditioner or pellet stove in the past 5 years, as well as those that have a connection to a central heating system.

The Ministry will monitor and control the implementation of the public announcement and has the right to revoke the decision if irregularities or non-compliance with the terms of the Program are determined.

2. Criteria for financial support for consumed electricity

Categories of households:

1) With one or more persons with severe or profound intellectual disability

2) With the most severe physical disability

3) With a completely blind person

4) With a completely deaf person

One person can submit only one application for one household.

 

3. Required documentation

For granting an inverter air conditioner:

· Completed application (forms 1 and 2)

· Statement, notarized

· Photocopy of the applicant's ID card

· Photocopy of ID cards for household members - for adults or birth certificates for minors in the household, marriage certificate, divorce certificate or death certificate and

· Photocopy of the last electricity bill for 2025

 

For granting financial support for consumed electricity:

· Completed application (forms 1, 2, 3 and 4)

· Statement of reliability of data, notarized

· Photocopy of the decision on acquired right to use a special allowance

· Photocopy of the last electricity bill for 2024 and

· Photocopy of the applicant's ID card and

· Photocopy of ID cards for household members - for adult persons or birth certificates for minors in the household, marriage certificate, divorce certificate or death certificate and

4. Method of submitting the documentation

The forms and the statement are available on the Ministry's website, in the Public Announcements section. The documentation is submitted by mail or in person at the following address:

5. Application deadlines

• For the award of an inverter air conditioner – the application deadline is 60 days from the date of publication of the public announcement, i.e. until October 5, 2025.

• For financial support for consumed electricity – the application deadline is 30 days from the date of publication of the public announcement, i.e. by the end of August 2025.
