The Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, is participating in the "Sustainable Energy Week" organized in Geneva, Switzerland. As a panelist in two discussions, the Minister shared her insights on how a just transition is an inseparable part of the green transition process for the countries of the region, and also spoke on the topic of accelerating the energy transition.
"I am pleased that our country once again has the opportunity to directly participate in discussions at one of the most renowned energy events in Europe. This multi-day event will help us communicate our Government’s stance on the serious processes awaiting the region on the path toward a green scenario, decarbonization, and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. Turning to renewable energy sources is our imperative and one of the main priorities in the coming years. I am confident that together with colleagues from the UNECE region, we will have an excellent opportunity for networking and discussions on all the challenges in the major processes of the energy transition," said Bozhinovska.
Bozhinovska also held bilateral meetings with significant representatives and stakeholders in the field of sustainable energy, including the Deputy Executive Secretary of UNECE, Dmitry Mariyasin; the State Secretary in the Ministry of Energy of Moldova, Carolina Novak; and participated in a working meeting with the Chairs of the UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy, Jürgen Keinhorst and Margalita Arabidze.
The work of UNECE as the organizer of the Sustainable Energy Week aims to improve access to affordable and clean energy for all and to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the carbon footprint of the energy sector in the region. This event focuses on broad discussions on building resilient energy systems for a just energy transition in the UNECE region.
