Minister Bozhinovska at meetings with leading companies from the mining and energy sector in London

Minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, during her official visit to London, had meetings with three leading companies in the mining and energy sector – Anglo American, Central Asia Metals (CAML) and Pacific Green.

The meetings were focused on advancing cooperation with British companies that are global leaders in the application of innovative and sustainable technologies in mining and energy, with an emphasis on responsible mining, energy security, and green transition.

Company representatives expressed strong interest in strengthening their presence and investments in North Macedonia, while respecting national laws and European standards for environmental protection, safety, and social responsibility.

At the meeting with Pacific Green, a company specialized in the development of energy storage systems and integration of renewable sources, the discussion focused on the potentials for implementing battery energy storage systems, which are a key segment of modern energy infrastructure.

Minister Bozhinovska emphasized that with the new Energy Law, North Macedonia is introducing battery energy storage systems for the first time, aligning the country with global trends and creating conditions for more efficient use of renewable sources and a stable energy system.

“We see North Macedonia as a country that creates a predictable and transparent framework for investors. The new legal and institutional ambient enables investments that align with the highest standards of responsible mining, energy security and environmental protection”, minister Bozhinovska stated.

The companies Anglo American and CAML, which are already present in the country, welcomed the adoption of the new Law on mineral resources, which establishes clear and transparent operating rules, strengthening investor confidence and encouraging the development of modern and environmentally responsible mining.

Executives from both companies have expressed satisfaction with the establishment of the new Ministry of energy, mining and mineral resources, noting that the creation of a separate institution for this sector is a significant step toward better coordination, faster communication and strategic resource management.

They expressed gratitude for the Ministry’s professional approach and described it as a place whereas investors finally have a concrete and competent partner for cooperation, support and resolution of issues in the energy and mining sectors.

Minister Bozhinovska emphasized that the Government is committed to making North Macedonia a partner to serious and responsible companies that operate according to European standards, invest in innovative and ecological technologies and contribute to local economic development.

“Our vision is clear – to build North Macedonia as a regional example of balanced development in energy and mining, where economic growth goes hand in hand with environmental protection and community well-being”, minister Bozhinovska added.

Anglo American, CAML, and Pacific Green are recognized as modern companies that integrate sustainability, safety and innovation in their working process, confirming the potential for further, deepened cooperation with North Macedonia’s energy and mining sector.
