The minister of energy, mining and mineral resources, Sanja Bozhinovska held a working meeting with the director of the Development bank, Efimija Dimovska, dedicated to final activities for operationalization of the Fund for energy efficiency–one of the most significant mechanisms for financing investments in country’s energy efficiency.
Next steps for establishing the Fund were reviewed at the meeting, as well as the preparation of the key documentation, and interinstitutional coordination necessary for its operational launch. Particular accent was placed on creating efficient, transparent and sustainable system which will enable undisturbed financing of projects for energy efficiency.
Minister Bozhinovska pointed out that the establishment of the Fund represents one of the most important reforms in the energy sector, with which the state creates eternal financial mechanism for supporting investments that will contribute for reducing energy consumption, lower costs and greater energy independence.
In the next period the focus will be directed toward adoption of the whole necessary documentation and establishment of all institutional and operative mechanisms that will enable the Fund to start with financing energy efficiency projects.
The Fund for energy efficiency will represent key instrument for mobylizing domestic and international financial resources and their direction toward investments in public and private sector. Its aim is to secure long-term financial support for projects that will increase energy efficiency anhd will contribute in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate the process of green energy transition.
Both sides confirmed the commitment for intensive coordination and partner cooperation in the next period, aimed at making the Fund fully functional mechanism that will acellerate the investments in energy efficiency and will contribute for fullfilment of national and European climate and energy goals.
With establishing the Fund for energy efficiency, Macedonia gets a modern financial instrument which will secure continuous support for investments in cleaner, more efficient and more competitive energy.
