November 18, 2024 – The governments of North Macedonia and Kosovo held a joint intergovernmental session in Pristina, during which protocols and memoranda of cooperation were signed.
The Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources of North Macedonia and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Kosovo signed a Memorandum laying the foundation for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. The signing was attended by both Prime Ministers, Hristijan Mickoski and Albin Kurti.
The Memorandum highlights the mutual interest of both countries in developing a strategic energy partnership through harmonized policies and actions that will contribute to economic growth, energy security, and the rational use of natural resources.
By signing this document, North Macedonia and Kosovo committed to collaborate in several key areas, including:

Promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency.

Exchange of expertise and information between public companies.

Development of infrastructure projects of mutual interest.

Exploration of opportunities for the exchange of electricity and resources.
"With this memorandum, we are strengthening not only our energy systems but also our shared vision for a stable, sustainable, and interconnected region. We are confident this cooperation will bring significant benefits to both countries and serve as a model for partnerships in Southeast Europe," stated Minister Sanja Bozhinovska.
The Memorandum underlines the importance of energy transition and the necessity for joint efforts to respond to global energy challenges, especially in the context of climate change and the energy crisis.
